CNBC Event: We Gather 67 Experts In NYC To Discuss UN Goals
Zena Media was approached by CNBC, the world's leading business news broadcaster, to organise a thought leadership event called the "CNBC Brainstorm".
It's no mean feat to fill a room with experts from different fields who can all bring different skills and opinions to the table.
But on 24th September in New York, we did just that for CNBC! The prestigious "CNBC Brainstorm series", which debuted at the World Economic Forum in Davos, offers a great opportunity for industry leaders to connect, debate and network. It's a refreshing and interactive event format compared with the usual panel discussion style (although they can be great too of course).
And what a room! 67 senior representatives from the likes of the WEF, US Council of Business, IBM, UNDP, Google, Refinitive, HSBC, 11:FS, Biocatch and Boost.ai to name a few!
Below is our Head of Content Lea Jakobiak with (L-R) Jeremy Balkin, Head of Innovation at HSBC, David Furgusson, Author of How To Program Your Future, and CNBC's Flagship Anchor Tania Bryer.
And the purpose of he discussion? To take what we have learned from the fourth industrial revolution. (So how Internet of Things (IoT), robotics, virtual reality (VR) and artificial intelligence (AI) are changing the way we live and work) - and look ahead to the 5th industrial revolution - when technology, machine learning and innovation becomes about trust, values and saving the planet.
Questions that were asked were along the lines of: How can you make the world ‘better’ rather than just ‘more efficient’ or ‘more productive’?
The location in New York was perfect as the CNBC Brainstorm was held at exactly the same time as the United Nations Climate Action Summit, which gathers all the worlds' most important leaders and discuss how they will take action to reach their goals.
The UN acknowledges that these plans & goals require complete transformation of our societies & economies making sustainability our prior goal in every industry.
These goals are also meant to be inclusive of everyone rather than create more cleavage between social ladders, gender equality. By doing so we can create jobs and strengthen our economies. Six areas are primarily concerned by those changes: finance, energy transition, industry transition, nature-based solutions, cities and local action, and resilience and adaptation.
And this is exactly why big brands like CNBC understand how important it is to be part of this wider discussion, and this is why so many experts are willing to take part.
Zena Media is very proud to have helped produce such a fantastic event, which sole purpose is to find solutions for a better future.
